Wanderungen im südlichen Polen in Stadt (Krakau, Katowice) und Land und Berg.
Final city tour on the last day of our stay in Poland. Krakow is a very beautiful city with around 800,000 inhabitants.
Great luck with the weather, not a drop of rain 😀
The subterranean route sections are not recorded due to the lack of GPS (+3.5 km / +135 hm).
Descents to a depth of 135 m all over wooden stairs, then return with a mine elevator.
Some of the pictures are not in chronological order (as there is no GPS underground).
Huge ancient salt mine, prepared for viewing…
Get recommendations on the best single tracks, peaks, & plenty of other exciting outdoor places.
Mountain tour on the Poland-Slovakia border (High Tatras).
The largest cable car in Poland leads up here, so there are massive numbers of people, without a reservation you stand in line for ages.
Unfortunately, due to time constraints, there was no bigger tour possible.
In the morning we visited the concentration camps Auschwitz and Birkenau. Very impressive and oppressive at the same time. Very large number of visitors.
I didn't record or take photos, just a few overview photos (sorted in at the beginning before the city tour). Simply as an indication that a visit there…
The city of Katowice has 300,000 inhabitants.
The old mine buildings and modern new buildings are very beautiful, combined excellently.
Otherwise the city is OK, but not anymore.
The imposing ruins of the former fortified castle tower on the highest peak of the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura. The castle, which was destroyed several times during the Polish-Swedish wars, is now a romantic ruin and a popular excursion destination.
For a few days we are in Poland, Krakow region.
First a visit with a hike in a national park.
