Had breakfast this morning with the nice hosts together with two other cyclists, if you are looking for peace and relaxation with nice people, like canoeing, you should drop by "Einfach Lassen" in Aulosen! Schnackenburg on the Elbe was quickly reached and the Elbe was my constant companion for the next…

From Oebisfelde we first went to the Drömling Nature Park, a biosphere reserve, and I was blown away by the nature, how little people are, endorphin surges came in rows. Four deer, four deer, a fox and a swan and bird calls I hadn't heard before. Nobody could be seen except me. At the end you come to…

Say goodbye to Ulrich this morning, the tour is over for him and he's taking the train home!
My journey continues and in Wiedelah the ICT was reached again. If the signage was rather moderate to bad up to now, it got significantly better from Hornburg onwards. Hornburg has a beautiful old town and a castle…

Today the focus was not on the Iron Curtain Trail, but on the "Brocken" at 1141m, the highest mountain in northern Germany! Even the ascent to Hohegeis was tough, before that we were in the railway town of Zorge, so incidentally "single malt" whiskey is now being produced here. Of course, there were…

On our Iron Curtain Trail Tour we went from Bad Sooden-Allendorf to the monastery village of Walkenried. In the beginning the Werra was our companion to Werleshausen. From there we drove through an agricultural area via Arenshausen, Burgwalde to Weissenborn, here close to the former border with patrol…

STAGE 3 from Herleshausen to Bad Sooden-Allendorf, on the Iron Curtain Trail or the Werraradweg. I was on the road here 20 years ago, the bike path has been greatly expanded and is great to ride throughout! Creuzburg with its natural stone bridge, Treffurt, Wanfried with its historic harbour, Eschwege…

The path led us from the castle town of Schlitz into the Fulda valley and from there to Hünfeld. In constant up and down we drove to the "Iron Curtain Trail", it is not always recognizable as such. The Ulster Valley is beautiful and there is a cycle path that runs alongside the Ulster. At Phillippstal…

Once again started a multi-day tour, the destination is Travemünde and the way there is the "Iron Curtain Trail", i.e. along the former German border!
Ulrich accompanies me to Goslar and over the Brocken!
Today we drove on the Niddaradweg to the Hoherodskopf and on the Vulkanradweg via Lauterbach to Schlitz…

The last stage was on, from Büchen to Travemünde. Here, too, there were sections that led through deserted aisles. In the morning I drove through a pine forest for a long time, it was so quiet there that the noise of my tires bothered me, so stop a few times and let the silence sink in! The Schaalsee…
