Would you like to use a long weekend for a cycle Tour? Are you in good shape and not afraid of a challenging climb? Is your bike suitable for off–road terrain? Then the Kraichgau–Hohenlohe Cycle Route through the Heilbronn region is definitely something for you. Impressive castles, picturesque little towns, idyllic rivers winding through beautiful landscapes and the wonderful town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. This is an impressive adventure.
It’s straightforward to reachthe start and return home by train. The first day ends in Heilbronn, where you can easily find a bed and a good dinner. The region makes excellent wines, and wine and good food tend to go hand in hand. On the second stage, you finish in Eschental. It’s not on the official route, but you find an inn there where you can spend a relaxed night.

The route is signposted with a brown sign with a cyclist and the name of the cycle path so it’s easy to find the right way. For the most part, you cycle on quiet side roads and country lanes, but there’s also many kilometres of cycle paths.

At the beginning, you pedal through open countryside between fields and meadows. The nature changes as you approach Rothenburg ob der Tauber, merging into beautiful forests. The shade here is wonderful, especially in summer. Rest areas and small, exciting places also lie en route, so you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to where to stop for a break. A little tip from me: If you have enough time, stay an extra night in Heilbronn and one in Rothenburg to explore the cities more extensively. It’s worth it!

Do you think after the second stage it's time for a relaxed final spurt to the wonderful little town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber? Wrong thought! Because on the third day I have a few smaller and two really tough climbs on the list for you. You can spend a total of almost 72 kilometers in the saddle and
