Here are the komoot community's favorite lakes in Saxony. Discover mighty reservoirs with clear water, quarry ponds with seductive sandy beaches and hidden forest lakes in the midst of breathtaking nature—so you can easily surf the next heatwave.
Hiking Highlight
The Berzdorfer See at the gates of Görlitz is a major tourist project in the border triangle of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. At the lake, water lovers will find several bathing areas to relax, playgrounds and beach volleyball courts. The 16 km long circular route around the lake invites sporty people to go cycling, hiking and inline skating. Sailing on the lake is also possible from the port. In addition to Görlitz, the municipalities of Schönau-Berzdorf auf dem Eigen and Markersdorf are located directly on the lake. From the lake you can see Görlitz's local mountain, the Landeskrone, and when the weather is nice, you can also see the Giant Mountains.

On the north bank of the dam there are two beautiful bathing spots that are ideal for a rest or even as a destination for a tour. On the shore of the lake you can relax comfortably in the grass and refresh yourself while bathing in the cool water.
If you need a little more action, you can work out on the volleyball or soccer field. Children can get rid of their excess energy in the playground.
There is a restaurant or a kiosk on both beaches if you want to strengthen yourself. Free toilets are also available.

Bike Touring Highlight
The Boxberger beach on Bärwalder lake is fantastically beautiful and huge. All have space on the wide sandy beach. There is a special area for nudists, dog lovers and kite surfers. In the bathing season from mid-May to mid-September, the bathers have toilets available and the beach is cleaned daily. Of course, you should also make sure that the beach stays clean.

The dam Bauzen is fed by the Spree and was dammed up in GDR times. The reason was the power plant Boxberg, which needed water for cooling. The result is this beautiful reservoir, which was already a popular recreational area. The great sandy beach, which was also created in GDR times, you can still enjoy today. Here it is nice to swim in the lake and lie comfortably in the sand or grass. For the physical well-being provides a chilled beach bar on the lake.

At the Koberbach dam there is a beautiful beach with a beautiful sandy beach and great lawn. While bathing in the lake you can really enjoy the panorama of the dam with its wooded shores. And if you want to stay longer, you can even stay overnight, because next door there is a campsite.The lido is open from the beginning of June to the end of August daily from 10am to 6pm. If the temperature is lower than 20 degrees, it has closed. Admission costs 3 euros for adults and 1.90 euros for children and adolescents up to 16 years. Children under four are free.

During the reclamation, a recreational area with beach and landscaped park was created around the lake and opened at the Expo 2000 on June 1, 2000. The leisure activities are for sunbathing and swimming and u. a. Well-received by sailors, windsurfers, kitesurfers, inline skaters and cyclists, the Cospudener See has become a popular recreational area. In recent years, it has been averaged by about 450,000 people per season. In the course of the Leipzig Olympic bid for 2012 competitions in rowing, triathlon as well as beach volleyball and extensive other leisure activities were planned at Lake Cospuden.

Both lakes are former gravel pits. Ideal for hiking, cycling and of course for swimming. At Moritzsee there is a parking lot which is chargeable from May to September.

Beautiful beach on Lake Schladitzer, in the area Wolteritz. ideal place for a bike break at Lake Schladitzer. Water quality used to be good, shallow entry into the water. Good gravel and lots of space when more visitors come. With the bike you can fix a good job.
