Between the Alps and the Po Valley, you’re guaranteed to find your favourite cycling area in Italy’s Lombardy region. The mountainous landscapes of Lake Maggiore and Lake Garda, the wine hills of Franciacorta and the flatter terrain further south make every cyclist reach for their bike.

At Lake Garda, you roll – almost float – above the water, while in Franciacorta, you can enjoy the grapes both along the route and in a glass. On Lake Maggiore and in the Valchiavenna, you cycle with incredible views of mighty mountains; in the Po Valley, the cycle paths take you to wonderful river banks.

You can also combine the diverse cycle routes in Lombardy with a bit of culture. Again and again, you’ll pass impressive fortresses, churches or monasteries. As you pedal, you’ll discover lively old towns and charming villages. There's no shortage of enjoyment: you can always squeeze in a well-deserved break for a delicious coffee and ice cream or a long lunch break.

You can find more information about the region here in-lombardia.it/en or here italia.it/en/lombardy.
