The diverse fauna and flora at the "Pearl of the Ammerland" is absolutely remarkable. The five and a half square kilometer lake is home to water feathers, strushes, cattails, water lilies, kingfishers, gray herons, osprey and many other species. In addition to bathers, who romp around in the Dreibergen and Rostrup spa parks in particular, the Zwischenahner Meer is also a very popular destination for sailors and windsurfers.

On nice days it can get crowded. In Isang you can sit nicely right on the water, food is better in the Wellenreiter, only 150 meters away.

The largest lake in the northwest of Germany is at only 2.9 meters deep, probably one of the flattest. Most of the time, the water depth is less than 1.50 meters. Here you can practice all kinds of sports on and around the lake in addition to refreshing bathing. Hiking and cycling, climbing on lookout towers and exploring the area, experiencing species-rich moorland up close or prefer rowing, fishing, surfing or pedal boating on the water. Possibilities without end.

The pond was created as part of the construction of the marshalling yard. There is a beach in one place, which is sometimes guarded. In the summer it is very crowded. Then prefer to bathe offside.

Be sure to try the north path "Dör`t Moor". This path starts from the circular route around the lake (100 m behind the pavilion).

Variant "Small Moorrunde":
The "Kleine Moorrunde" of the NABU hiking guide system with approx. 7.5 km, which leads across the Butterweg, is an ideal hiking alternative. "Dee Bodderpad" (Low German) was once the shortest connection between Kirchwalsede and Rotenburg (Wümme). Many moor farmers then used this arduous way to sell their home-made butter in Rotenburg.
