For swimming you have three large sandy beaches to choose from, where you can lie relaxed in the sand and enjoy the summer.     The Altwarmbüchener See was built as part of the construction of the A37 "Moorautobahn" and was officially inaugurated in June 1982. Approximately 1/5 of the area is located on Isernhagener side, 4/5 of the area are in the area of ​​the city of Hannover. The lake forms the core of a recreational area: generous playgrounds and sunbathing areas offer citizens various opportunities for recreation while playing, camping, swimming, sailing, rowing and surfing. The largest part of the recreational area is reserved for hiking, cycling and nature watching. The western service building has a DLRG station and a sailing school with boat rental.
     The eastern service building also has a DLRG station and a kiosk with a beer garden. In addition, there are two jetties of the local water sports club.
