Experience breathtaking nature with a proper work out. If you feel at home in the outdoors and want to experience pure freedom, Thuringia is the place for you. In this Collection, we present eight varied and challenging hikes that are breathtaking – and not just because of their highlights.

Narrow paths, deep forests, spectacular viewpoints, steep climbs and rocky slopes promise pure adventure. On natural trails, you explore spectacular places such as the narrow Drachenschlucht (Dragon Gorge), climb rugged rocks like the Hermannstein and hike through idyllic valleys such as the Schwarza.

Thuringia's landscape is varied and green with plenty of refreshing rivers and lakes to cool off in and enjoy more activities like kayaking – if you still have energy left after your hike. You see, Thuringia is a real outdoor paradise.

The combination of nature and adventure, culture and culinary delights make hiking in Thuringia an wonderful experience. Many sites lie directly on the way or are just a detour away – like the mighty Wartburg Castle near Eisenach, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And don't forget: a bratwurst as a reward is always a must in Thuringia!
