Bike Touring Collection by komoot
When hot summer heat is taking over Vienna, when the air is standing still and the asphalt melting, there’s only one right to do: Grab your swimwear, hop on your bike and head out of the city jungle, right into the cool, fresh water. Bring a friend, a frisbee and a watermelon to make it perfect. In this collection you will find wonderful bathing lakes and Danube beaches, from popular places in the city to the insider tip at the gates of Vienna. On wide meadows or small beaches you can lie under mighty trees and really enjoy the summer. Except for the lido in Neusiedl, all bathing spots are free of charge.

You can go cycling on Lake Neusiedl. A cycle path leads completely around the lake. Depending on your fitness, you can do the lap in two to three days. To cut short there are also ferries that take you across the lake.
In summer you can swim in different places in the Neusiedler See to refresh yourself. Most of the time, the bathing spots are on campsites or in beach pools.

The history of the Strombads Kritzendorf goes back to the year 1887. At that time there was a swimming basket in the Danube to enable even inexperienced swimmers to swim safely. Over the years, the bath then developed into a renowned bathing spot for the Viennese. At the end of the 1970s, bathing operations were discontinued. Since then, the Strombad has been freely accessible. You can swim in the Danube, but there is no lifeguard.
