Reine Flusskilometer: 836 Kilometer
- Rhein 187 Kilometer runter und rauf
- Mosel 562 Kilometer rauf und runter
- Main 87 Kilometer rauf
Rhine kilometers 500 - 525
After we were last together in 2019 and I was alone on the Rhine last year, this year's spring bike tour begins at Mainz Central Station.
In the rain!
Good ohms/bad ohms?
A week ago there was a shock when I had to check the bikes and found that the bottom bracket on the new bike…

Rhine kilometers 525 - 592
Yesterday we saw the indication that the B42 is closed in the further course. We'll get through as pedestrians or cyclists! We made it up to the full road closure in Assmannshausen and since we didn't want to take the 500-metre detour via Presberg to Lorch, we went back to R…

The last two days have been warming up and now our actual holiday destination begins.
Along the Moselle by bike.
Moselle kilometers 00 - 52
When we finally finished staring at the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, the sun was already rising quite late. But what the heck, if the way is longer than the time available…

A short city tour without Reichsburg with heat and ice at twenty-five degrees Celsius.
We had already visited the Reichsburg in detail in 2011 and therefore skipped it this time.

Moselle kilometers 52 - 131
Today it is quickly told.
Plenty of vineyards and sun, a little fewer castles or ruins than before and despite a lot of gawping we've come a long way.
The route is also suitable for racing bikes, but it should be a gravel bike from Wehlen because of the deeper potholes on the…

Moselle kilometers 131-203
It rained quite a bit this morning. At breakfast the sun came out again and then over the course of the day we fried the leftovers that she didn't manage to do yesterday.
Today we looked for the path on the right side of the Moselle and of course got lost. The Moselle loop near…

Moselle kilometers 203 - 242
Today we hung around in Luxembourg all day. So on the Luxembourg side of the Moselle because the Moselle itself is a 36.5 kilometer long border river but is on the German side. Or not? More on that later.
Not far after Igel, Luxembourg's Wasserbillig begins after crossing the…

Every child in the region knows that Luxembourg and Germany border on the Moselle. Western side of the river Luxembourg, eastern Germany, the border in the middle. This is what it looks like on almost every map. Absolutely normal. But it's wrong! Correct is: Two boundary lines, one on each bank. The…

For everyone who has a bit of a problem with the French language:
River cycle paths 0⃣7️⃣: The Moselle between Schengen and Bousse and back to Nennig.
No, we didn't get any French for breakfast today and although it was 28°C, our highest daily temperature so far, we didn't get sunstroke either. At least…

Moselle kilometers 233 - 152
Today it is told again quickly.
Annette had specified 80 kilometers, but did not mention whether she meant river or bicycle kilometers.
Last Saturday it rained for the last time and with maximum temperatures between 25 - 30°C the sun has beaten us mercilessly over the last few…

Moselle kilometers 152 - 82
Despite the heavy rain yesterday evening, the Moselle valley was an incubator again today. Today was Sunday and we took it easy. Because of the sheer relaxation while driving, my thoughts wandered a bit and somehow I ended up with the energy transition. As my eyes fell on one…

It's really quick today:

Still on the right down the river to Deutsches Eck in Koblenz.

City cycling 0⃣2⃣: 2x 66.7 = 133.4 kilometers
Rhine kilometers 592 - 529
No more strength to write much! 🤥
At thirty-two degrees Celsius we broke into the air-conditioned hotel in Bingen. I don't need to mention that we've burned more than tan in the meantime. Although it hadn't rained, the air could be…

Rhine kilometers 529 - 497
We started quite early, which may have been due to the fact that the freight trains ran through the room regularly all night!
Alternatively, there would have been heat death with the window closed. 😜
It was pleasantly fresh to start so early.

City cycling 0⃣3⃣: 2x 93.6 = 187.2 kilometers
Main kilometers 0 - 46
Since it was only noon, we first had a snack at Mainkilometer zero and then we romped up the Main with a tailwind (upstream). This time we wanted to try the left side and see how far you can get since we've ridden the right side several…

City cycling 0⃣4⃣: 2x 44.4 =88.8 kilometers

Our thirteen-day bike tour ended today because we refuse to cooperate on Friday the 13th.
Are already two days more than planned.
Since we're done with the tour, I've put everything back into a collection:
