I joined the inaugural edition of the TransBalkanRace. It turned out to be quite a challenge but with beautiful rewards. My teammate and I managed to finish the race but would recommend bringing another bike than we did. A lot of the route is MTB-style trails that at least would call for a front suspension/rigid setup. Also mind that resupply points along the route are scarce and even water can be hard to find.
