What could be better than a beautiful hike combined with delicious food? The region around Leipzig and Halle has a lot to discover. In this Collection, we’ve put together seven hikes between 13 and 20 kilometres (8 and 12 mi) long. They take you past historic sites, through cultural landscapes, to new lakes created by open–cast mining pits and along the Mulde and Saale rivers, flanked by vineyards. We show you beautiful restaurants and vineyards and introduce you to farm shops, producers and the famous Würchwitz Mite cheese.
And the best part? You can travel to the hikes in the most environmentally friendly way, without a car, traffic jams or the hunt for a car parking space. The Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund (MDV) runs 14 local transport providers so you can catch the bus, suburban train, regional train (RB) or regional express (RE). It couldn’t be more convenient to get to the respective starting point of your Tour and travel home afterwards.
For all Tours, we’ve selected a comfortable journey from Leipzig as an example. Alternative connections are usually available and you can reach the starting points of the hikes from other destinations with MDV too. Just look here: mdv.de.
Curious? Then get going, because there's a lot to discover in the Leipzig and Halle region.

On paved hiking and forest trails, you follow a section of the Muldetal hiking trail through an extraordinary natural and cultural landscape on this beautiful day hike. But the culinary views are also numerous on this route - and quite varied.

On this beautiful tour you start in Frohburg, Saxony, hike through Benndorf with its old manor and finally into the Altenburger Land in Thuringia. Through a charming hilly landscape with lakes, forests and open fields you reach the old residential town of Altenburg.
