Hiking is very popular in East Belgium and a particularly dense network of trails has developed in the region between the Eifel, the Ardennes and the High Fens. As early as the 1950s, the first Belgian GR long-distance hiking trails started cropping up. Since then, a network of hiking trails has grown up in this relatively small area, the density of which few regions can match.

The GR long-distance trails aren’t circular routes but lead you over longer distances through the most beautiful areas with impressive viewpoints and interesting cultural sites. You can also do multi-stage Tours, hiking for days at a time.

In this Collection, we present 17 Tours that you can combine to create your very own long-distance hike. The different variants of the GR 56 main route are complemented by the GR 573 and GR 563 secondary routes, which, together with the main route, will take you to the most beautiful corners of East Belgium.

You can easily find refreshment stops and accommodation along the network of hiking trails. You can get to the starting points easily by car, but you can also get there by bus. Some towns and cities are even connected to the railway network.

Ready to discover East Belgium on the GR 56? Then simply follow the red and white trail markings and this Collection, and let yourself be enchanted by the unique landscape.
