    Horstmarer See

    Bike Touring Highlight

The Seepark is located on the site of the Landesgartenschau Lünen ("LaGaLü"), which took place here in 1996. It is about 60 hectares in size and covers partly mining areas of the former coal mine Prussia and agricultural land. The core of the park is the nine-hectare Horstmarer Lake, artificially landscaped for the garden show, with its beach in the north and east, and a resting and conservation area in the west and south. In addition, there are wide meadows with perennial gardens as individual islands. In the south of the area rises the Prussian pile. Together with the Horstmarer Loch, a deep depression that is used for disk golf, it is practically the only relic that points to the original use of the areas.
