The north of Luxembourg captivates with vast landscapes paired with rich cultural heritage and with breathtaking natural beauty. As one of the Top hiking regions in Europe, many of these unspoilt natural landscapes can be discovered by foot on around 1900 km of hiking trails.
With over 200 hiking trails to choose from, you will find some hiking tips for the region in this brochure. Throughout the Éislek region, easier and more challenging circular and long-distance hiking trails guarantee a real hiking experience.
Each hiking trail tells its very own story. Along the way, you will find varied flora, many paths over near-natural surfaces such as the typical slate rock, breathtaking views and cultural highlights such as castles and fortresses.
At the end of the tour, many hiking trails offer refreshment stops where the hearty regional products of the region can be tasted, bringing the hiking day to a perfect end.
For all the hiking trails, sturdy shoes are recommended, as well as something to drink on the way.

Through forest and meadow – A hiking trail perfect for a spontaneous afternoon trip: You start in Schieren, at the monument by the church, and then leave the town behind you.
The trail takes you across wide fields and dense forests. Final- ly, you look down on the town from atop before heading back again.
Over the wide plateau – Along the stream, past the Asselborn mill, the slate quarry and the Millebierg viewpoint, this trail leads across the plateau of Wincrange.

Along the river – The Our makes a loop around Bivels, the starting point
of this tour. This trail mostly follows the river, making it very special.

Down to the old mine – In Goesdorf you start across fields and through the forest down to an old mine. Antimony, a shiny silver semi-metal, was mined here until 1938.
The efforts of the miners can only be guessed at from the out- side. Afterwards, the trail leads back up to the starting point.

Get an insight into the former life of the inha- bitants of the Ardennes villages in the country museum in Binsfeld. The village is directly on your way. Following the wolf ʼs tracks – Not a pack of wolves, but a storyteller in wolfʼs clothing awaits you on this tour. The wolf from Doncols once delight- ed young and old with his stories. Today, a statue dedicated to him reminds us of these times.

To the castle – It is not easy to not hike directly up to Brandenbourg Castle, from the starting point of the tour. But a little detour is worth it! The Kinneksknäppchen viewpoint will make you for- get your efforts with a breathtaking view to the castle. Later, on the tour, you can have a closer look…
To the stone bridge – This hike starts in Bilsdorf and takes you past the Misärshaff. Now you have already completed a good part of the trail. The tour continues down to the bridge over the Sûre, which is slowly damming up, over wooden footbridges and through a nature and bird reserve.
Down to the Our valley – The Our River is an important source of life for its inhabi- tants, including the brook mussel. Discover the exhibition at the Kalborn mill.
The highlight of this tour along the Our is the Kailslee view- point. The tough climb will be rewarded with a special view of the Our valley.
Up to the mighty fortress – The Bourscheid Castle towers above the valley in which the Sûre River makes loop after loop. You walk along the river and up to the fortress.
Once you have reached the Gringlee viewpoint on the op- posite side of the valley, you will be offered one of the most impressive views of the Éislek.
Over castle and valley – On the ascent and descent of this tour you can let your eyes and thoughts wander over the beautiful landscape. The Our valley lies at your feet and you discover the Falkenstein Castle from afar. On the descent, the Vianden Castle presents itself from its most beautiful side…
Along the grand lake – Your hiker’s heart will be delighted with the small paths along the Upper Sûre Lake and its beautiful views.
You will always have the lake in view, especially from the Schäsbierg viewpoint. And if you are lucky, you will discover the beaver gang that lives near the dam from Bavigne.
