This fantastic route takes us from west to east across Styria, a stunning mountainous region in Austria, from the Hohe Tauern over the Eisenerzer Alps to the Hochschwab group. Amongst this incredible landscape, wolves are frequently observed on hikes, adding to the magic.
Dotted with countless long-distance hiking trails, Styria offers a well-developed network of paths for an adventure; for our Collection, we selected the most beautiful sections in several mountain massifs. Alternating between valley and summit, hotel and hut, we experience the different mountain ranges of Styria.
We start with the imposing Dachstein massif. There, we cross the Schladming Glacier and hike through the fascinating karst landscape to the Guttenberghaus. Our next summit is in the neighbouring Styrian high mountain range, the Eisenerzer Reichenstein. There, we spend the night at the rustic Reichensteinhütte. Much of this is a ridge walk, so there’s always a fabulous view. Finally, we explore the northeastern Alps of Styria: the Hochschwab group. An extraordinary refuge awaits us there: the Schiestlhaus, awarded as the first Passivhaus at 2,146 metres (7,041 ft).
Ascend with the Dachstein Gletscherbahn gondola: 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) in altitude in just seven minutes. This first stage begins at the mountain station, from where we cross the Schladminger Glacier to the north. The trail continues up and down through the lonely karst and glacier landscape. We hike…
The day begins at 2,146 metres (7,041 ft). The panorama at the Guttenberghaus is particularly extraordinary in the early morning hours. The view accompanies us on today's stage as we descend along the mountain ridge. Finally, we reach the stunning mountain, Stoderzinken. A private transfer awaits to…

The third stage takes us up to the spectacular Eisenerzer Reichenstein mountain. From Präbichl, we first climb up a steep path. Then, we hike along the ridge with a gentle incline until we reach the Reichensteinhütte below the summit. The view of the terraced landscape of the Eisenerz Alps is phenomenal.
From the Reichensteinhütte, we descend via the Reichenhals and Krumpenhals. The Krumpensee mountain lake invites you to linger before we descend to the Hirnalm, our destination for today's stage. Private transfer to Seewiesen.
The Hochschwab Mountains are the junction of many long-distance hiking trails, such as the ‘From Glacier to Wine’ hike. Our destination today is the first Passivhaus mountain hut in the high mountains. Most of the electricity and hot water is generated by solar energy while the rainwater from the roof…
We descend from the Schiestlhaus. Afterwards, it’s easy to get a transfer to the starting point or head home.
