This is a hike for nature lovers: as you stride through the forest, you hear birds chirping between the rustling of leaves and wind whistling through the trees. In lush meadows, you hear the soothing ringing of cow bells and watch animals grazing peacefully. In the numerous game reserves, you watch wild boars grunting from a safe distance.
These foodie trails take you to the Black Forest’s animal enclosures. It’s a great experience to observe a deer up close, pet a woolly sheep or make friends with a buck goat – especially for children. Depending on when you visit, you might get to see lots of baby animals here too.
All of the foodie trails in the Black Forest are designated as premium trails by the German Hiking Institute. The varied routes lead away from roads and towns through unique nature, with its wild forests, meadows, gorges and valleys. You can expect wonderful half and full day Tours, which show you some of the most beautiful places in the region. They also include foodie highlights: spoil yourself with Baden wines and delicious regional Black Forest cuisine.
The Black Forest is easy to reach from all directions and you can catch the train to many of the trails. All other routes are located near bus stops or hiking car parks.
More and more people want to explore and experience the impressive nature in the Black Forest – whether on foot, by bike or on a mountain bike. But we, as humans, are only guests in the Black Forest – the animals and plants are our hosts. That's why nature lovers are expected to have #respectfornature, only then can we preserve the Black Forest in its beauty for years to come.
You can find out more about the #respectfornature initiative on our profile page komoot.de/user/schwarzwaldTourismus or at respekt–schwarzwald.info.
