Attention speed freaks and Black Forest fans: the area around the Kaiserstuhl offers fantastic slopes that will get the blood pumping in no time. You’re guaranteed an adrenaline rush riding these breathtaking mountain descents with perfect asphalt and surrounded by the picturesque Black Forest panorama. If you put up with the sweat to climb to the top, you'll be rewarded with white-knuckle descents that are second to none.
In this Collection, we’ve put together the most legendary training passes in the Black Forest. Some of them will push even the most well trained cyclists to their limits while others are ideal if you’re new to the world of road cycling or are looking for a sporting challenge after work. The idyllic scenery of the Black Forest with its shady fir trees and picturesque views accompanies you on every Tour. In addition to six magnificent circular routes, we’ve also included four Highlights in the Collection: our absolute Black Forest favourites! You can let them inspire you and plan your very own Tour to see them.
Our Tours are all round trips so you can choose your starting point flexibly and travel by train. From Freiburg and the surrounding area, there are excellent connections and you don't have to drive far before you can get on your bike. You can also make a weekend trip out of these Tour if you like, particularly those over 100 kilometres (60 mi). In the Black Forest, you’ll find picturesquely located accommodation that’ll spoil you with delicious regional cuisine and where you can recover perfectly for the next day.
More and more people want to explore and experience the impressive nature in the Black Forest — whether by hiking, by cycling or on a mountain bike. But we as humans are only guests here in the Black Forest — and the animals and plants are our hosts. That's why #RespectForNature is mandatory for all nature lovers, because only with respect we'll preserve the Black Forest in its beauty for our descendants.
You can find out more about the #respectfornature initiative on our profile page komoot.com/user/schwarzwaldtourismus or at respekt-schwarzwald.info.
You can still take this smaller round tour under your tires after work - with 1,220 meters of altitude difference, it will still make you sweat a lot. The train stations in Denzlingen or Waldkirch are ideal starting points, from where you can start cycling straight away.

Road Cycling Highlight (Segment)
The Texas Pass is a great climb from both sides - as usual in the Kaiserstuhl, sometimes a little steeper, especially the Kiechlinsbergen ramp with a little more than 12 percent. This climb is through forest most of the time and is preferable in summer, especially at lunchtime. The hump, which is actually called "Auf dem Eck", supposedly got its nickname because it can get "as hot as in Texas" there.

Road Cycling Highlight
The ascent via St. Ulrich to Geiersnest and up to the Eduardshöhe is a special gem in the Freiburg area. The route is a dead end for motor vehicles, which keeps traffic, especially that of motorized two-wheelers, clearly within limits. So you have it quite quiet here, you can enjoy the quite sporty climb and listen to the birdsong due to the lack of headwind.

Road Cycling Highlight (Segment)
The Wildgutachtal is a premium highlight in the Black Forest. The small lane meanders along the river with a gentle incline through the partly gorge-like valley, usually with minimal traffic. Pleasantly cool in summer, but often surprisingly cold in spring. Absolutely enjoy going uphill, it rolls nice downhill, but the narrow, winding road requires attention - oncoming drivers do not always have a good feeling for the width of their vehicles.
