In Germany’s Bergisches Land just outside Cologne, a typical low mountain landscape awaits you: extensive mixed forests alternate with vast meadows and idyllic river valleys. The many fine mountains offer numerous panoramic views and there’s a fair amount of elevation gain to reach them.

The road structure in Bergisches Land is wonderfully suited for a gravel bike adventure. On the agricultural and forestry roads as well as less frequented, asphalted roads, you can really go crazy, knock off long distances, climb high and still enjoy the landscape, letting your eyes wander. Some fantastic narrow forest paths are also included to up the fun factor even more.

The routes pass through small settlements and farms, past paddocks and chapels, half-timbered and slate houses and even the odd dam, features that characterise the Bergisches Land. You’ll always receive a warm welcome and it’s easy to find a little refreshment on the way or a hearty snack after your Tour.

The Tours are all round trips, so you can start from a variety of places. Some Tours begin at stations that are easy to reach by regional train. This makes your adventure perfectly accessible from Cologne or other surrounding towns.

Besides enthusiastic gravel riders, the trails are also used to a large extent by others on foot or on horseback. Please be considerate of each other and adjust your speed accordingly, in keeping with the motto ‘Experience nature together’. We wish you a great ride!
