Just as diverse as the landscapes in Western Germany’s Rhineland cycling region are the many stories to be experienced there. Cultural and scenic highlights and many new sights await you across 13 different Tours. On former trade routes, you cycle past historic windmills and watermills, stately castles and vast apple orchards.

The Rhineland also has an interesting industrial culture to offer: well-known companies settled here and shaped the culture and appearance of the towns with new settlements and facilities. In the age of industrialisation, goods were transported by rail – so you can enjoy not only excellent connections to the railway network, but also asphalted cycle paths on disused railway lines. In addition to wonderful routes through nature with meadows, rivers and lakes, in this Collection we also present urban Tours that take you past monuments, historical sites and museums as well as art installations.

The Tours vary in length and are each dedicated to a certain theme. You will find both hilly and flat altitude profiles, so you can choose exactly the right Tour for you. All start and end points are accessible by public transport. Along the routes, numerous inns with a range of regional specialities will be happy to welcome you. Aside from your water bottle, the most you need is a saddle bag to stock up on seasonal produce in the farm shops or at the so-called Frischomaten, vending machines for food. We hope you enjoy your cycling Tour through the history of the Rhineland cycling region with its fascinating history.

The close proximity of windmills and watermills is due to the fact that the region is mostly flat and a strong westerly wind blows, allowing the flour production of the watermills along the Erft to be supplemented by the windmills.
