The 250-kilometre (155 mi) long Feengrotten-Kyffhäuserweg (Fairytale grotto Kyffhäuser trail) is a varied and scenic route through Thuringia in Germany from north to south. Numerous impressive natural landscapes, as well as cultural highlights, await: hike through mystical caves, romantic valleys and quiet forests, explore mighty castles, enchanted ruins and climb lookout towers.

As the name suggests, this long-distance hiking trail connects fairy grottos in Saalfeld and the Kyffhäuser Monument at Kyffhausen Imperial Castle. In this Collection, we divided the route into 12 stages which all end somewhere with overnight accommodation. If you want to be even more flexible on the trail and enjoy spending nights in a tent, you can find campsites here: zeltzuhause.de (in German)

The trail is waymarked with a blue stripe on a white field.
