Württemberg, Franconia, Baden: it all sounds like a good glass of white wine on a sunny slope surrounded by green vines. This cycle adventure through the Tauber Valley takes you to all three of these German wine-growing regions and shows you 28 wine villages.

You ride through a picturesque, hilly landscape from the starting point in Dörzbach to Rothenburg ob der Tauber with its famous medieval old town. Then, you follow the course of the Tauber northwards past charming wine villages until it flows into the Main River at Wertheim. This mighty watercourse accompanies you until the end of your ride in Miltenberg.

The stage destinations are all in pretty villages and towns. The seven stages in this Collection are planned for leisurely cycling; you can start in the morning without needing to rush and, in the afternoon, there’s always enough time to look around and visit the local winegrowers for a tasting.

If you want to travel by train, you could skip the first stage and start in Niederstetten from stage 2. You can either cycle to the starting point in Dörzbach from one of the surrounding railway stations or take a bus from Möckmühl station, which has room for a limited number of bikes – for free!

Your wine cycle tour starts in Hohenlohe in Dörzbach. The first stage is not far, so you might even be able to arrive on the same day. You earn your first glass of wine by climbing a few meters in the hilly terrain.

With beautiful views you drive through the green landscape to the east. On the way you

From the third stage you now follow the course of the Tauber downstream. It's more downhill than uphill, but there are a few more kilometers. On wonderful cycle paths you will pass many beautiful places where it is worth making a short detour with a break.

The first part of this stage is still comfortable in the picturesque river meadows. Again, there are several places along the way for a break with a tour - including Igersheim and Bad Mergentheim.

Shortly before Königshofen you leave the banks of the Tauber for a small challenge. Via Unterschüpf it first

Beautiful landscapes, wonderful cycle paths and many sights are also on the program on this stage. From Beckstein you drive down to the banks of the Tauber and follow its course to Tauberbischofsheim. A detour to the old town with its half-timbered houses is worthwhile.

The starting point and destination are very close together on this stage. Just a few meters as the crow flies on the other side of the Main in Kreuzwertheim you arrive at the end of this section.
