Vast, lush green meadows, crystal-clear rivers and lakes, dreamlike mountain panoramas – some things are simply hard to get enough of. That's why the Logenplatz route puts precisely such places in the foreground. The 120-kilometre (75 mi) long-distance hiking trail through Ostallgäu combines everything that makes the region in the south of Bavaria so special. On the way, you have plenty of time to enjoy this magnificent landscape. Logenplatz means ‘box seat’ – as in a theatre box – so as befits a box seat, the view is, of course, a great one. On your hike, you’ll be offered magnificent views of castle grounds, the Alps and Neuschwanstein Castle. Pure Allgäu idyll!
In this Collection, we’ve divided the long-distance hiking trail into nine stages. You’ll discover the beauty of the castle park, one of nine adventure areas in the Allgäu. The route starts in Seeg, which is easily reached by train. Since it’s a circular route, you can begin at any other point if you like. The individual Tours are between 11 and 22 kilometres (6.8–13.7 mi) long, so the Logenplatz route is also ideal for those new to long-distance hiking. Although you can expect one or two tough climbs, you can take your time and always look forward to a rewarding view.
The infrastructure along the trail is particularly well developed: you’ll find accommodation, refreshment facilities and local transport connections at all stage destinations. This allows you to skip sections if you’re short on time. Conversely, if you’re speedy, you can combine one or two stages. For maximum enjoyment, pack a hearty snack in your rucksack with pretzels, mountain cheese and Landjäger (traditional alpine sausages). This way, you can enjoy your hiking adventure through the castle park in the Allgäu even more.
The Logenplatz route is just one of three long trails in the Allgäu Castle Park and each form their own circular adventure. You’ll find the Idyllegarten route in the flat Alpine foothills, the Logenplatz route at the foot of the mountains, and the Königsalpen route takes you into the mountains on narrow paths. You can see the other two routes here:
