Back to tranquillity and nature — Idylllegarten route in Germany’s Ostallgäu
The birds are chirping, the reeds rustle gently in the wind and far away you can hear the bells of a flock of sheep – sounds that mean you are far from civilization. On the approximately 100-kilometre (62 mi) Idylllegarten (idyllic garden) route in the picturesque Schlosspark adventure area deep in the Ostallgäu region, you can enjoy nature and tranquillity with all your senses, leaving everyday life behind. Come on a relaxation Tour and let us surprise you with how peaceful an active long-distance hike over gentle hills to idyllic lakes can be.
Over five stages, you’ll hike from one small town to the next. In between, there’s one thing above all: lots of nature! Wide fields with wonderful panoramas, fragrant forests and natural ponds all line your path. For a change of pace, you'll find impressive monasteries or churches at almost every stage destination. There's no shortage of culinary delights either. You'll find tasty beers and delicious food in cosy inns on almost every Tour.
If you don't have five days in a row or would like to divide the Tour over several weekends, you have the option of arriving or departing at each stage by train. Since the Idyllegarten route is circular, you can start or finish it at any point along the way.
This beautiful long-distance hike is just the thing to let you switch off from the stress of everyday life. Listen to the birds chirping, enjoy the rustling of the leaves in the forest and let yourself be completely captured by your surroundings along the way. You’ve earned it!
The Idyllegarten route is just one of three stage trails in Allgäu Castle Park and they each form their own circular adventure. You'll find the Idyllegarten Route in the flat Alpine foothills, the Logenplatz route at the foot of the mountains, and the Königsalpen route takes you into the mountains on narrow paths.
