Are you ready to discover the North Sea coast of South Holland and North Holland? Well you can with the Dutch Coastal Path part 2, which runs from the Hook of Holland to the Afsluitdijk dam.
Along the way, you’ll walk through dunes and forests, and along estates that were once used by wealthy city dwellers to escape the hustle and bustle of their own hometown.
You’ll visit cities such as The Hague and Haarlem. And what about the many coastal towns with their lively boulevards, such as Scheveningen, Katwijk aan Zee and Egmond aan Zee? You also walk past the tulip fields adorned with all the colors of the rainbow in the spring. And don't forget the beach. This route often runs alongside the sea. In total, the route is just over 230 kilometers (143 mi) long.
In addition, you’ll find three extra stages in this Collection, V, A and B. Because the road branches off after Callantsoog in the direction of the Afsluitdijk, you’ll miss the section between Callantsoog, Julianadorp and Den Helder in the official route. This is solved with stage V. Stage A and B are both circular walks. With one, you discover more about the former island of Wieringen and the other leads you around Den Helder, at the northernmost point of North Holland.
As with any long-distance walking route, you can choose to walk the entire distance, or pick one or more separate stages. A number of stages begin or end at a train station, or are easily accessible by bus.
There are numerous options for overnight stays, particularly in the more visited areas where you’ll find plenty of hotels, apartments and campsites. Keep in mind that accommodation on the coast, especially in the summer, fills up quickly.
This Collection contains the stages of part 2 of the Dutch Coastal Path. Part 1, from Sluis to Hoek van Holland, can be found here: komoot.com/collection/1282306/langs-de-zeeuwse-kust-nederlands-kustpad-deel-1-voorheen-deltapad
