Aberdeenshire is an emerging destination within Scotland, the region’s mountain bike trails are developing at a rate of knots, thanks to the strong local riding community and the management of the Aberdeenshire Trail Association.

The area boasts a style of trail for everyone whilst keeping things completely natural. We've explored the infamous Lightning Bolt Trail through the Royal Balmoral Estate that finishes at Loch Muick, the hand-built trails around Ballater, Mastermind and Heartbreak Ridge, and the Munro, Beinn a' Bhùird.

All the revenue generated from viewership across the series will be split between planting more trees in Scotland and the local trail associations. If you want to ride any of these trails for yourself then be sure to check out the Tours below.

Starting out in Ballater, a town full of great independent shops, you pedal up a relatively short climb for the descent you get in return. Quickly you feel as though you’re in the middle

  4. Beinn a' Bhùird is a munro. These are mountains in Scotland which are over 914 metres. They can be quite challenging descents but the mountain path we’re riding on here is one of the best.

You can do this as a loop, ticking off other Munros or more simply just as an out and back. When you summit, you
