Your tyres crunch over fine gravel as you race past Mount Teide, the third highest island volcano in the world. The barren volcanic landscape merges with sparse pine forests and, a few kilometres away, the Atlantic Ocean glitters. Tenerife’s diverse landscapes will leave you in awe. On La Gomera, a neighbouring island, dreamy paved roads lead through enchanted forests – a dream for cyclists.

My friend and I decided to take a break from the German winter. My bike had to come along too of course – I can’t spend a long time without it. On the way, we met lots of other adventurers and toured the islands together. I was the only one with my bike, but every now and again, I managed to get out on some solo adventures. In this Collection, you find my Tours, which I recommend wholeheartedly.

The roads on the Canary Islands are quite steep so be prepared to climb a lot in a short distance. In Tenerife, I found great gravel routes through the forest and the volcanic landscape around Teide. On La Gomera, the roads are so beautiful that I didn’t spend much time looking for gravel. There is not a single major road here and the lanes are quiet. The situation is similar in Tenerife’s beautiful Anaga Mountains in the northeast of the island.

When you create a Tour with the route planner, watch out for extreme gradients and alpine terrain – these are mostly hiking trails. Sometimes, a shortcut can make sense, but it’s better to stick to the road with a packed bike. Make sure you wear a helmet – you can really pick up speed downhill here.

You can rent a bike from lots of places in Tenerife so it’s easy to go on a day ride. If you want to spend longer on the road, it’s definitely worth taking your own bike.

I wish you an unforgettable adventure and look forward to your comments!

Arrived in Tenerife, the sun is shining, the sea is sparkling. First we arrive near the airport to sort ourselves. This tour is my first little trip through the Malpais de la Rasca protected area.

The tour begins in Palm Mar, but the journey into the archaeological volcanic landscape is also worthwhile

Off to the north! After extensive research, we decide on accommodation in the small town of El Sauzal. And it is a direct hit - fantastic views of the cliffs and the Teide, a warm community, cultural offerings and inviting gastronomy.

A new move is pending and there couldn't be a nicer route for the bike: once across the Anaga Mountains. I can only recommend everyone to visit this magical place. For a bike tour, I recommend a weekday, because at the weekend, numerous day-trippers drive this route by car. With the racing bike you will

Once with everything, please: This tour leads through the dense pine forest of the Las Lagunetas nature reserve and through the surreal volcanic landscape of the Teide. The finest gravel routes await there - as well as a lot of vertical meters.

I would like to visit my friends in La Montañeta and plan a bike tour, because the route there is pure gravel with wonderful views of the Teide and the Orotava Valley.

It starts at Aguamansa above Orotava. Here the gravel route begins with many small dangling and zigzag curves in the midst of lush vegetation

We hop over to La Gomera - let's see where you can engrave like that here. Some routes that are marked as easy mountain bike trails could only be used as hiking trails with the bike on my shoulder. This tour is a combination of the drivable passages from two of my tours.

Asphalt until it bangs: on La Gomera the roads are so beautiful that there is hardly any reason to go off-road. On this tour you will be very happy with the racing bike. The cars I have come across can be counted on two hands.

The long climb is tough, but the beauty of the route makes up for it all. I
