Berchtesgaden National Park is the only alpine national park in Germany. High mountains, deep valleys and crystal clear mountain rivers characterise these unique protected landscapes. The motto here is ‘let nature be nature’. With an altitude difference of 2,110 metres (6,922 ft) from Königssee lake to the mountain, the Berchtesgaden National Park offers an incredibly diverse habitat for animals and plants.
Hiking through this protected area gives you a deep and varied insight into nature. We’ve put together a Collection of the most beautiful hikes in the Berchtesgaden National Park for all abilities. Wonderful views over the Königssee, the ice chapel at the foot of the Watzmann’s eastern face, a cosy stop in a rustic alpine inn in the national park – these Tours are full of variety.
You can reach many of the starting points by public transport. Please make sure that you don’t disturb the sensitive habitats during your visit and be mindful of the nature as you hike – it’s worth protecting. It will thank you for it and, by being careful, you contribute to the preservation of this important area. Have fun exploring the Berchtesgaden National Park!
