With more than 3,500 kilometres (2,175 mi) of railway lines, the Belgian railway network is one of the densest in the world. Travelling by train in Belgium allows you to go almost anywhere!
In addition to the pleasure of walking, the train rides from station to station are an opportunity to admire the passing landscapes. Not to mention the convenience of the train, which allows you to easily return to your original destination.
Have you ever heard of Céroux-Mousty station? Sy? Lustin? Leaving the daily routine and arriving at these small country stations is an adventure in itself.
With these eight hikes of about 20 kilometres (12.4 mi) each, you leave from one station to hike to another. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover little corners of nature in the heart of Wallonia.
I recommend that you take water and snacks on each of your hikes. You’ll sometimes be in remote places, so preparation is essential. You should also bring good walking shoes and bear in mind that some sections can be muddy, depending on the season.
An important element for the smooth running of your hike in Wallonia is a train timetable. You can find them on the official website of the SNCB: belgiantrain.be/en
You can also download the SNCB mobile app on your phone so you’ll always know when the next train is leaving.
