Berguedà in Catalonia is in love with cycling. Despite this, it’s relatively unheard of outside of the region. In other words, you could say it’s an undiscovered gem.

This route covers 244 kilometres (151 mi) in three days. It’s a great challenge that takes you through the contrasting landscapes between Alt Berguedà, the most mountainous part of the region, and Baix Berguedà, the more arid, flatter part.

It’s important to take the season into consideration when planning your route. In higher areas, snow can prevent you from crossing. Meanwhile, in summer, the temperatures are high and sun exposure can be an issue in the southernmost area. One good thing about this Collection is that it can easily be shortened at several points en route.

In Volves de Foc, you discover the region’s mining past and natural sites such as Cadí-Moixeró, Capolat, the Pedraforca valleys, the Picancel and Ensija mountain ranges or the Rasos de Peguera pass, among many other places of great cultural and natural interest. This Collection explores small villages with medieval streets where you’ll live with locals, experience the Catalan language and the regional cuisine.

  • You resume this second Route in Castell de l'Areny with a fairly steep climb that takes you to the Sierra del Catllaràs, a protected natural area. This site is the natural habitat of red deer and capercaillie, a species seriously threatened by the degradation of its environment.
