In this Collection, you hike between history, nature and culture. Over 251 million years ago, in the Triassic period when dinosaurs roamed the planet, the two rivers Saale and Unstrut formed a unique landscape. Theses waters found their way through mineral-rich rock layers of shell limestone and red sandstone. Along with riverbanks rich in species, this region’s classic, steep slopes were formed. Today, vines grow on the hillsides in the sun.
Due to the particular climatic and scenic characteristics of the Saale-Unstrut region, a rich cultural landscape with many castles and palaces grew. Exploring on foot is the best way to discover the incredible highlights and sights in this magnificent area. That's why we've put together 10 day Tours in this Collection, which take you between the Saale and Unstrut rivers through romantic valleys and mystical forests, into idyllic villages and through charming mountain ranges.
