Good coffee and cycling go hand in hand. The Netherlands has many cycling cafes that understand this well. I'm a big fan of a good cup of coffee before a long ride, as well as during and after too. That extra dose of caffeine always gives me that extra push.

Cycling cafes are also places where you can find the best routes in a region as local cyclists gather here and share their favourite rides. I asked the nicest cycling cafes in the country what their favourite routes are to put together the best road, gravel and mountain bike routes in the Netherlands. This Collection was their answer.

The 22 Tours in this Collection vary considerably in length. There are shorter off-road routes, road rides with local gems and even a fantastic 200-kilometre (124 mi) gravel Tour in the Achterhoek in the east of the Netherlands. It’s definitely worthwhile spending a spare weekend in a cafe that’s a bit further away than around the corner from your home. Strap your bike to your bike rack or take it on the train and get ready for an adventure in your own country. You’re guaranteed to meet cool, new people – and they’ll all love bikes and coffee, just like you.

Kamu Bikes & Coffee in Breda is a combination of a modern bicycle shop and a coffee bar in one. Kamu is the Finnish word for buddy or comrade and it really feels like a living room where cyclists and coffee lovers meet. More importantly, Kamu has a gold mine of beautiful routes, thanks to their own route builder Bjorn Kamman (bjornrides.cc).
