Don't let the weather stop you! Win with Five Ten! – Berlin

Mountain Biking Collection by adidas Five Ten

When the capital is overcast on the very day you really want to get your wheels rolling, it's often hard to feel enthusiastic. But Berlin and its surroundings have great destinations to offer even when the weather is bad, and they offer even more intense experiences when it's raining, windy and sleety.

How about a rustic barbecue hut where you can enjoy the hot cocoa you've brought along or sit cosily around the fire? Or you can enjoy a delicious meal in a restaurant and let the bad weather run itself out. You have a choice - between a rustic pub, a forest café or a diner with typical 50s flair.

If the weather gets too bad, do what the mole does and go underground. Berlin's underworlds harbour one or two secrets and exude a very special charm, especially in gloomy weather. The sauna area of the Kristalltherme near Ludwigsfelde, on the other hand, is a real treat, and you can cycle there spontaneously. No bathing suit required.

Don't forget to take out your phone when dark clouds pass over the landscape and you're still standing in the sunshine. The atmosphere is dramatic and simply incomparable.. Perfect for a bike adventure!

And no matter what conditions await you, no matter what terrain, with the adidas Five Ten Trailcross mountain biking shoe, you can explore even the most remote forests all year round. Its waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX membrane keeps your feet pleasantly dry even in rain and snow. The non-slip rubber outsole guarantees optimum grip on the pedals and its flexible neoprene upper keeps mud and small stones out. So nothing, not even the worst weather, will stop you from your bike ride.

To motivate you even more, we're organising a competition for you:

- Grab a Highlight from the Collection or find another great destination and plan your own Tour in wet weather.
- Take a few photos during the Tour to capture the atmosphere and include the hashtag #brandofthebrave in the Tour title.
- Follow adidas Five Ten on komoot and tag us as a participant of the Tour.

We will raffle off two Five Ten Trailcross packages among all participants. Each package includes the Five Ten Trailcross GORE-TEX mountain bike shoe and a Five Ten TrailX long-sleeve. If, for any reason, these products are not available, the winners will instead receive a 250 euro voucher for the online shop at adidas.de.

    Heilandskirche am Port von Sacrow

    Mountain Biking Highlight

The Sacrow Church of the Savior was extensively restored only a few years ago. It stands right on the former border between East and West Berlin and was one of the locations for the film "Keinohrhasen".

From the church you have a great view of the Jungfernsee, to which the Havel widens here. In rainy weather you can simply stand under the pillars and watch the rain as it splashes onto the lake water. Absolutely romantic!

    Dörferblick

    Mountain Biking Highlight

Waßmannsdorf, Schönefeld, Berlin - from the view of the village you can see three larger and smaller settlements. It is one of many artificial mountains that emerged as a pile of rubble filled with rubble from the Second World War. When the weather is nice you can see far, but also a cloudy sky has its charm and offers dramatic contrasts.

    Waldhaus Buch

    Mountain Biking Highlight

The Waldhaus Buch is abandoned and weathered in the middle of the Buch forest. The former tuberculosis sanctuary was built in 1901, and the first patients were admitted four years later. During the Second World War, the area was used as an air force hospital. In the post-war years, both an orthopedic clinic and a rehabilitation clinic were located at this location.

The building has been empty since 1992 and exudes a special charm, especially when the sky is overcast. Of course, you only look at the Waldhaus book from the outside. It is in danger of collapsing.

Well hidden, the path leads you along the fence of the now disused Tegel city airport. Until November 2020, you could see a plane take off and land here on average every two minutes during the day. With the opening of the new major Berlin-Brandenburg airport, air traffic in Tegel was discontinued after more than 70 years. Today the huge area is only used as a helipad for the time being.

However, the re-use plan provides for the construction of a research and industrial park called “Berlin TXL - The Urban Tech Republic”, which is to deal with green technologies. In some cases, apartments are to be built on the site that are particularly modern, economical and sustainable.
