Don't let the weather stop you! Win with Five Ten! – Franconia

Mountain Biking Collection by adidas Five Ten

Autumn is approaching and with it comes fog, drizzle, slush and chilly temperatures. Reasons to wrap up and draw the curtains? Absolutely not! Because you're not made of sugar and a bike ride is certainly not only worthwhile when the sun is shining. That's exactly what we want to prove to you with this Collection.

Franconia in northern Bavaria is known for its hospitality, tasty beer, hearty cuisine, lots of culture and spectacular nature – the perfect region to experience a lot even in bad weather. In this Collection, we’ve put together 17 Highlights that will make your trip to this beautiful region an outstanding adventure.

In Bayreuth, for example, the history of classical music greets you at every turn. As a festival and Wagner city, it is a true paradise for all classical music fans. On the other hand, if you like things really green and natural, Franconia is the place for you too! Whether it's Lake Brombach, Paradise Valley, the treetop path or spectacular rock formations and caves such as the Hohle Felsen or the Teufelshöhle Pottenstein, there's a lot to discover here. The weather plays almost no role. Of course, you should bring a rain jacket and be careful when walking on wet rock, but that goes without saying.

Do you want to relax a little after your Tour? Then a visit to the Therme Rodach is definitely worthwhile. Of course, we’ve also thought of your hunger levels and there are plenty of huts and restaurants in Franconia. So look forward to an eventful time and make the bad weather your friend!

And no matter what conditions await you, no matter what terrain, with the adidas Five Ten Trailcross mountain biking shoe, you can explore even the most remote forests all year round. Its waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX membrane keeps your feet pleasantly dry even in rain and snow. The non-slip rubber outsole guarantees optimum grip on the pedals and its flexible neoprene upper keeps mud and small stones out. So nothing, not even the worst weather, will stop you from your bike ride.

To motivate you even more, we're organising a competition for you:

- Grab a Highlight from the Collection or find another great destination and plan your own Tour in wet weather.
- Take a few photos during the Tour to capture the atmosphere and include the hashtag #brandofthebrave in the Tour title.
- Follow adidas Five Ten on komoot and tag us as a participant of the Tour.

We will raffle off two Five Ten Trailcross packages among all participants. Each package includes the Five Ten Trailcross GORE-TEX mountain bike shoe and a Five Ten TrailX long-sleeve. If, for any reason, these products are not available, the winners will instead receive a 250 euro voucher for the online shop at adidas.de.

    Urwald im Reichswald

    Mountain Biking Highlight

The Reichswald has an area of around 25,000 hectares and is divided into a northern and southern part by the Pegnitz. It is one of the largest urban recreational forests in the immediate vicinity of a major German city. Large parts of it are protected as a ban forest. In the Middle Ages, the Nuremberg Reichswald belonged to the imperial estate, i.e. the crown property of the Roman-German electoral kings near their Nuremberg imperial castle, and was administered by the imperial city of Nuremberg. With the Reichswald program 1986–2003 a natural mixed forest was aimed for by planting new hardwoods. There are a total of 20 different forest types, from wet alder forests to oak-beech and oak-pine forests to lichen-pine forests. In addition to the predominant coniferous forests, there are also quarry and swamp forests along the forest streams, biotopes have developed in the abandoned quarries, the rivers have washed up sandy terraces from which the fine sand was blown into inland dunes in the forest by storms. Forest ponds, birch forests, sandy grasslands, forest meadows, heaths and hills complete the picture of a diversity that at first glance would not have been suspected.

Grandiose view from the Hohler Fels to the surrounding area, nice seats for a rest with a view of the Happurg reservoir. Very popular place and very busy in summer, unfortunately not recommended on weekends. The "Hohler Fels" is a natural karst cave. In addition to the cave, the neighboring rock face also bears this name, be careful on the unsecured edge of the rock.

    Kösseinehaus

    Mountain Biking Highlight

The Kösseinehaus is definitely worth the drive. Not only the Rundrumaussicht, but also the beautifully landscaped guest area are recommended. Indoor and outdoor seating, therefore, even in slightly worse weather suitable as a destination. On weekends in good weather you should be prepared for that every seat is occupied and the food is already very long in coming. But the beverage selection can be a comforting and cake is also fast.
