Experience nature without barriers. The natural treasures of the national park should be accessible to everyone, so we have numerous offerings for people with and without disabilities in the national park region. 💚
Why not visit the adventure exhibition ‘Wilderness Spaces’ in the Eifel National Park Centre, and the four national park gates in Nideggen, Heimbach, Rurberg and Monschau-Höfen? These areas are optimally adapted to the needs of people with a range of physical and cognitive abilities.
At the accessible nature experience area ‘Wilder Kermeter’ you can get up close to nature, barrier-free. Animal observation stations and guided hikes are also geared to the needs of all. Please note that the Wilder Kermeter with its nature discovery trail ‘The Wild Way’ is popular and often busy, especially at weekends, during the holiday season and when the weather is good. We’d suggest avoiding these times if you’d prefer a quieter visit.
If you have any questions about accessibility in the Eifel National Park, just call our head office on 02444/9510-0 or send an e-mail to info@nationalpark-eifel.de. We’ll be happy to help you. 💁♀️
We recommend travelling to the area by public transport. This will save you the hassle of looking for a parking space if the car park is overcrowded on busy days. 🚗🚗🚗
🚌 Public transport tip:
Lines 231, 814 and Mäxchen will take you to the Kermeter as far as the "Wilder Kermeter" stop.

You can find more information at nationalpark-eifel.de/en. We hope you have a wonderful time in this special protected area! 🍃

✨ Marvel, discover and try out 🐾🍃
The visitor center in the historic Forum Vogelsang IP - in the middle of the Eifel National Park - houses the exhibition "Wildnis(t)räume" - a barrier-free, family-friendly and interactive experience for young and old!
In the adventure exhibition "Wilderness(t)dreams" you can let yourself be surprised and marvel, discover and research, understand and reflect or simply spend a stimulating time. The exhibition has something to offer for the whole family and for all ages. There are modern productions and an appealing atmosphere, stations to try out and play with, tactile models and stuffed animals to touch, plant scents to sniff, radio plays and animal sounds to listen to. And many new perspectives that sharpen the view of nature.
In addition to German, English, French and Dutch, the content is also available in simple language, in sign language and as an audio description. A tactile guidance system shows the way through the seven exhibition modules, which are also easily accessible with a wheelchair or pram. The "Travel for All" certificate confirms the implementation of accessibility in all areas.
Other offers await you before or after the “wilderness(t)rooms”: the Vogelsang IP site and a NS documentation on its eventful history, information and a shop in the central visitor center, a social get-together in the restaurant or a hike into the countryside. Impressive in any weather and can also be enjoyed from the panorama room of the "Wilderness(t)Rooms" are the wide views over the Urftsee, the densely forested mountain slopes and the open grassy landscapes of the Eifel National Park.
If you have any questions about the exhibition or bookings, you can reach us at 02444/91574-0.
