ℹ Here you can find information about the national park.
In the national park and surrounding area there are several service points where you can get information about your visit. 💁♀️
In the Eifel National Park Centre you’ll find information and advice for your visit, and the adventure exhibition ‘Wilderness Spaces’. Across 2,000 m² (6,562 ft) of exhibition space, explorers young and old can experience the diverse nature of the national park with all their senses. You can touch animal models, explore scent ‘memories’, feel the soft fur of a beaver and enjoy many other interactive stations. 🐾
The National Park Gates offer tourist information and various small exhibitions on topics related to the park. Digital terrain models give you an initial overview of the large protected area, and various national park films set the mood for your subsequent nature experience. This makes the National Park Gates, in addition to the Eifel National Park Centre, the ideal starting point for a visit to Eifel National Park.
The park’s info points are smaller than the National Park Gates, but you’ll still find a wide range of information here. Some are also equipped with tourist information.
Tip: Most service points are accessible by bus and train.

✨ Marvel, discover and try out 🐾🍃
The visitor center in the historic Forum Vogelsang IP - in the middle of the Eifel National Park - houses the exhibition "Wildnis(t)räume" - a barrier-free, family-friendly and interactive experience for young and old!
In the adventure exhibition "Wilderness(t)dreams" you can let yourself be surprised and marvel, discover and research, understand and reflect or simply spend a stimulating time. The exhibition has something to offer for the whole family and for all ages. There are modern productions and an appealing atmosphere, stations to try out and play with, tactile models and stuffed animals to touch, plant scents to sniff, radio plays and animal sounds to listen to. And many new perspectives that sharpen the view of nature.
In addition to German, English, French and Dutch, the content is also available in simple language, in sign language and as an audio description. A tactile guidance system shows the way through the seven exhibition modules, which are also easily accessible with a wheelchair or pram. The "Travel for All" certificate confirms the implementation of accessibility in all areas.
Other offers await you before or after the “wilderness(t)rooms”: the Vogelsang IP site and a NS documentation on its eventful history, information and a shop in the central visitor center, a social get-together in the restaurant or a hike into the countryside. Impressive in any weather and can also be enjoyed from the panorama room of the "Wilderness(t)Rooms" are the wide views over the Urftsee, the densely forested mountain slopes and the open grassy landscapes of the Eifel National Park.

Welcome to the Düttling Wilderness Workshop!
Who dares to go wild? Who's in the mood for wilderness?
On the way into the wilderness - but one thing first: We are not a craft business! Nature itself, at its best, reverts to wilderness. "Workshop" means that we are out and about in a variety of ways on a good 50 hectares of forest and deal with the emerging wilderness. Individual building blocks create a holistic picture from different perspectives. Because the process in which each individual approaches the topic of forest, wilderness and process protection can be as wild as we want nature to be.
Accessible place to play and learn:
The site of the barrier-free wilderness workshop Düttling is located on the eastern edge of the national park between the towns of Heimbach-Düttling and Heimbach-Hergarten and is reserved for school classes, kindergartens, as well as children and youth groups. The team at the wilderness workshop is happy to tailor the offers to the needs of young guests with mobility or sensory impairments, and young people with learning disabilities are also welcome.
On the “wilderness days” groups can spend a whole day in the wilderness workshop, accompanied by a ranger who has a lot “in his backpack”. Whether animals or plants, special terrain, cohesion in the community, connections and modes of action of the various forest ecosystems - there is a lot to discover, and with excitement and joy. For school classes who are already familiar with the wilderness workshop or would like to get more involved with the Eifel National Park, the Widniswerkstatt team offers various project days that focus on learning about forest ecosystems and practical work on forest development on the Wilderness Workshop site.
Four shelters with fireplaces are available for the lunch break. During the lunch break, the group eats its own food. Please note that in the current situation it is unfortunately not possible to prepare sausages and bread on a stick.
Please use the pdf form below or this online form for your binding booking request. Your request will be checked and within 14 days you will receive a binding confirmation or rejection of your booking request.

Right in the middle, instead of just being there: nature and wilderness to touch.
Natur-Erlebnis-Treff (NEsT) in the youth forest home is a special place of learning and contact point of the Eifel National Park for school classes on school trips lasting several days. Our forest education offers are aimed at all school classes in North Rhine-Westphalia, with a focus on elementary and special needs schools - especially years 3 and 4. The stays in the NEsT are usually designed as one-week learning and experience offers.
Depending on their age and knowledge, the children and young people can develop a positive approach to nature based on their own intensive experiences with nature. This has a lasting effect on their further development.
From an educational point of view, the desired intensification of social processes and strengthening in the area of social behavior are in the foreground.
In addition, links to one's own life and the lives of other people are considered, which allow children and young people to recognize the overall connections in the ecosystem. Technical and content-related goals, which are pursued as secondary goals, convey the importance and value of an intact nature.
Overall, the NEsT offers various daily modules that are adapted to the requirements depending on the season, weather, age of the children and other factors. The NEsT offers two-storey, parallel for two classes, accommodation suitable for children. Healthy breakfast, varied lunch and a lovingly prepared evening meal are part of our all-inclusive offer. On request, we also serve special requirements, such as vegetarian or pork-free food.
During the school holidays of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, school classes from other federal states as well as independent groups of children and young people can also register with us. This applies in particular to groups of refugee children.
