On the Slow Trail Faaker See you explore the idyllic nature and landscape protection area on the edge of the Drobollacher Moors. You hike at the foot of the Karawanken with the Mittagskogel as the most striking and highest elevation in the Villach region and experience a lake that is wonderfully integrated into this idyll.
It starts at the village pond in Faak am See.
At Afritzer See you can hike leisurely and relaxed - this leaves you enough time to carefully explore this beautiful, natural lake. The Afritzer See Slow Trail leads you through an idyllic and species-rich conservation area that lies between Mirnock and Wöllaner Nock. On your hike you will explore the habitat of around 15 different fish species and the noble crayfish, whose populations have been replenished since 1992.
Pure natural idyll - this is what awaits you on your hike on the Drauschleife near Villach. It starts at the parking lot of the Wernberg Monastery. Soon you will reach the two idyllic monastery ponds, which are managed by the Villach sports and breeding fishing association. Here you can stop for a moment, take a deep breath and look at the monastery walls.
The second variant of the Slow Trail Slowly Trail leads along the Ossiacher See in a wide loop. Particularly comfortable: You return from your destination with the excursion steamers of the Ossiacher See Schifffahrt. This tour also starts at Günther Domenig's stone house and first leads you along the edge of the Pencil Valley Moors. Take a little time here to admire and observe the flora and fauna. You shouldn't miss the two observation towers either.
In its enormous extent, you can hardly see the Wörthersee in its entirety from its shore. Fortunately, there are various viewpoints around the lake that offer a much better perspective slightly above the shore. This slow trail takes you from Velden on the west bank of the lake to the Hohes Kreuz viewpoint. You hike through the enchanted Römerschlucht and visit the quiet forest lake.
The Kitzelberg is a wooded ridge on the west bank of the Klopeiner See. At the top of the summit you will find a beautiful viewing platform - so you can enjoy a great view of Lake Klopein despite the tall trees. From St. Kanzian, a leisurely circular hike takes you up to the summit. The slow trail runs over comfortable forest paths and is therefore suitable for the whole family.
A fjord-like landscape, crystal-clear, turquoise-colored water and romantic bays: on the shore hike on the Weissensee you will hardly be able to see enough. The lake gets its name from its white gravel bank and lake bed. The calcareous rock gives the lake its Caribbean-like water color. The Weissensee is also the only lake in Carinthia without a bypass road and offers a perfect slow trail scenario - in absolute peace and seclusion.
On this hike you will not only enjoy the wonderful shoreline landscape around the Pressegger See, but also see the majestic mountains of the Gailtal and Carnic Alps that frame the lake on your way. You walk on narrow paths through the dense belt of reeds. With a little luck and a lot of rest, you will see a great crested grebe between the tall stalks. Its gray plumage shimmers in the sun.
