In May 2021 Albion and Outdoor Provisions came up with an idea to bring the community together. We created a cycling challenge that celebrates longer days, the hope of springtime and exploration closer to home – open to anyone on two or three wheels, and willing to spend 12 hours outdoors in one go.

This challenge was based on 12 hours elapsed time, not riding time. It was amazing to see everyone share their rides: from those who could stay in the saddle for 12 hours straight (or a little longer), to those who used the opportunity to go for their first wild camp or bikepacking adventure.

This Collection draws together and celebrates some of our favourite submissions. From incredible feats of endurance to historical tours of the countryside. From wild nights out under the stars to adventures shared with family and friends (and dogs!).

Thank you all for being a part of #12hoursofmay and see you again next year!

I can't believe this is all on my own doorstep! I'm absolutely falling in love with gravel riding, it feels like a proper adventure. The route was great, lovely sections along the ridgeway and some spectacular views of the countryside, also I learnt a lot about the chalk carvings which was pretty cool! 🙂 I must have been wearing my lucky pants to because despite some ominous clouds at points I managed to avoid getting rained on all day! 😂

The goal: c.700km round the north of England, ticking off 10 checkpoints and climbing over 8000m.
First ever through-the-night ride which was kind of awesome, with sunrise somewhere near Sedbergh.
Crippling knee pain set in near Windermere so I had to call it a day at St Bees, 4 checkpoints and 270km in but it was still an enjoyable experience

This trip has been a long time in the making, and the #12hoursinmay challenge provided just the incentive to get out and get it done.
While not a big ride for many, this was an epic adventure for my 9yo son and I.
Lot of planning, kit tests, shakedowns, false starts, failed attempts and tears of frustration have preceded this trip.
A wonder full memory made brighter by a rare break in this month's endless rain and wind.

This Tour would be equally good clockwise or anti-clockwise, but time the short distance on the A82 early in the morning or late in the evening as the traffic will be quieter. There are plenty of loop options when you reach Skye. The full route would be best suited split into two days, but depends how much pain you like! 😈
