Walking is booming! In recent months, many Munich residents have explored their city in the most climate-friendly way possible — on foot. This new way of life is great for your mind and body – a motivating reason to walk daily. Walking is a gentle way of exercising, especially since rambling in the countryside also lowers stress levels. In addition, you’re doing something good for the climate and the community since walking reduces noise and air pollution and thus protects the environment.

It's lucky that Munich is one of the greenest cities in the world. If you've been on a park circuit so far, you'll be amazed at how much there is to discover in the state capital. Together with the hiking and cycling app komoot, Munich Cool City has put together a Collection of the most beautiful Tours in the city in collaboration with some of its partners as part of the campaign ‘Munich goes forward’. In all corners of Munich, bubbling water, light-flooded groves, romantic lakes and lovingly landscaped parks will enchant you. You can leave the car behind while you explore, because all the Tours are easily accessible by public transport.

So, how about a hike to Perlacher Mugl forest? If the weather is good, you'll have a fantastic view of the Alps from here. Or take a walk through the Westpark, see geese raising their chicks and stop off in a uniquely beautiful beer garden. Other Tours take you along the Würm River or to the Olympic Park, which is magnificent to see, especially at sunrise. A Tour through one of the largest parks in the world – the English Garden – and a visit to the glacier River Isar with its white gravel banks, will leave your camera packed with photographs.

Sustainable mobility really can be this beautiful, relaxed and diverse! So, join in and become an active climate protector. You can find more information about the ‘Munich goes forward’ campaign here: coolcity.de/muenchen-geht-voran

This tour is recommended by rehab republic e.V.Munich is really a city of water. The Isar flows through the entire city from south to north and leaves its oasis-like traces everywhere in the waterfront. Your tour to Flaucher starts at the Brudermühlstraße underground station. From here hike down to the banks of the Isar and first arrive in a green area through which the large city stream flows. This is also fed by the Isar.

This tour is recommended by Munich Tourism.Surfing in the middle of the city? That is possible in Munich. And it's not at all unusual to see cyclists with surfboards on their bikes passing by. Your destination is the Eisbachwelle in the southern part of the English Garden. On this tour you not only get to this refreshing spectacle, but also get to know the landmarks of the city.

The south of Munich is an absolute natural spectacle! On a hike from the Thalkirchener Brücke to the Großhesseloher Brücke you will discover the banks and high banks of the Isar. The glacier river sometimes flows leisurely or, after heavy rainfall or the thundering snow, makes its way thundering through the city. You will be carried away by the naturalness of this river and its banks in spite of the proximity to the city.

The Fasaneriesee lies parallel to Feldmochinger Straße in the north of Munich and inspires with its idyllic nature and great swimming opportunities. A beautiful path leads around the lake, on which you can go on a tour of discovery. You start at Feldmoching train station. If you are traveling with children, after almost two kilometers you will reach a large adventure playground, which is a wonderful motivation for the little ones to be outside.

This tour is recommended by Netzwerk Klimaherbst e.V.The Westpark in Munich is a very entertaining park that was created in 1983 for the International Garden Exhibition based on a design by Peter Kluska. You will immediately notice that the park is quite hilly. This is because the landscape architect based the design on the foothills of the Alps. So it's not surprising that you pass a mountain hut on your walk.
