A hiker's paradise in the north? That’s exactly what you’ll find in Emsland in the border region between Germany and the Netherlands. This idyllic area is really diverse – perfect for long hikes and walks. Whether you enjoy leisurely trips with your family or challenging all-day hikes, you can find it in the Nature Park Moor-Veenland. With more than 400 kilometres (248 mi) of hiking trails, the nature park is a real insider tip.
In this Collection, we’ve put together 27 Tours that take you through the region. The Nature Park Moor-Veenland is located in the triangle between the province of Drenthe, the district of Emsland and the county of Bentheim. Founded in 2006, the nature park works on sustainable development projects in the area.
The Nature Park Moor-Veenland is an extraordinary area for nature and adventure with plenty of colourful landscapes. In spring, the cotton grass blankets the moor like a white carpet. In August, the heather turns the expanse into a purple sea of flowers. In winter, the landscape is covered with hoarfrost and snow. The Emsland is a wonderful place to explore at any time of year.
You’ll discover stunning natural sights if you decide to adventure here. At dusk, the moor showcases its mysterious charm that is both beautiful and threatening. The horizon appears far away and an unusual silence covers the landscape. The moor seems almost unreal at times, but that makes it all the more unique for hiking. Besides the moor, there are also forests, meadows and rivers to discover
