The DoGa cycling trail takes you from the enchanting Dolomite landscape to the Mediterranean-like region on the shores of Lake Garda. You cycle south past craggy rocks, high peaks and through picturesque valleys. You cross deep forests, overcome high passes and roll along glittering rivers until the blue Lake Garda majestically reveals itself.
The Dolomites Garda Cycle Path, or DoGa for short, is 110 kilometres (68 mi) long. Its starting point is in the beautiful mountain region of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, in Malè, northern Italy. You can arrive comfortably by train from Trento. From here, head south to the resort town of Riva del Garda, on the shore of Lake Garda. The nearest train station for the return journey is conveniently located in Mori in the Adige Valley, only about 18 kilometres (11 mi) away.
In this Collection, we have divided the DoGa into three stages, each averaging 40 kilometres (25 mi). You can cycle the trail on a mountain or gravel bike but it is also possible on a trekking bike. The route takes you along well-maintained cycle paths, roads with little traffic, as well as dirt and forest roads. If you want to have an easier time climbing the slopes, you can also choose an e-mountain or trekking bike. Thanks to the good infrastructure along the route, you will find enough charging possibilities.
And that's not all: you can also look forward to a wide selection of accommodation along the way. Hotels, guesthouses, bed and breakfasts and holiday flats are available. In Riva del Garda you will also find a campsite. Of course, the culinary experience will not be neglected on your ride. You can indulge in Trentino specialities in numerous restaurants and cafés and recharge your batteries for your ride from the Dolomites to Lake Garda.
The starting point of the DoGa cycle route is in Malé. You can easily get to the idyllic community by train from Trento. Before you set off, you can pay a visit to the Fucina Marinelli, an old blacksmith's shop. Then it starts. You cycle through the Val di Sole on a well-developed bike path and enjoy the magnificent panorama around you.
The second stage of the DoGa cycle path starts relaxed and flat. From Pinzolo you cycle through the picturesque Val Rendena, always along the Sarca river. On the way you will pass several small towns that invite you to rest. After almost ten kilometers you leave the valley and start the ascent to the Daone Pass. In some hairpin bends, it is sometimes quite steep to almost 1,300 meters. You drive through refreshing forest.
