The Stubai High Trail is one of the most adventurous long distance hiking trails in Tyrol. Until the height of summer you will still come across old snow fields to be crossed and can cool your feet in icy glacial lakes. Green alpine meadows, high moors, the view of ibex and ptarmigan as well as numerous rope-insured spots make every step on the almost 80 kilometre long high mountain trail a dream of every experienced mountain hiker.

Seven stages lead you along scenic ridge paths and make the heart of the summit stormer beat faster. You will conquer around 5,000 metres in altitude in this rugged high mountain landscape. If you can't get enough of it, you will find some recommendations for detours to other magnificent summits in the stage descriptions. In this way you will turn one of the most demanding long-distance hiking trails into a real challenge for your fitness.

So that you can also relax, there are eight cosy mountain huts along the way. Each of them has its own special charm, but all of them offer you the chance to enjoy a fabulous alpenglow at sunset. The best time for your hike starts in July and goes until the end of September. As this is also the most popular time, it makes sense to book the huts well in advance.

The Stubai Valley and the starting point at the Starkenburger Hut can be easily reached by train. The best way to reach the Tyrolean village of Fulpmes is by train from Innsbruck, which is served by the Stubaitalbahn. From here you can take the Kreuzjochbahn up into the mountains and start your ridge walk to the Starkenburger Hut. The Stubaitalbus line 590 takes you comfortably back from your destination in Neder to the Stubaitalbahn.

The Stubai High Trail is one of the six most beautiful long-distance hiking trails in Tyrol, the so-called "Great Walks". All routes promise you three things: get away from it all, experience real adventure and immerse yourself in particularly beautiful alpine mountain landscapes. In addition to the Stubai High Trail, the Eagle Walk, the Berlin High Trail, the Lechtal High Trail, the Karnisch High Trail and the Inntal High Trail belong to the Tyrolean hiking trail elite.

Proud 700 meters of altitude await you on the second stage - and yet this stage is one of the easiest on the Stubai High Trail. The view from the Basslerjoch to the Stubai main ridge will definitely sweeten your strenuous ascent.

You start on flat terrain out of the valley into the Kuhgschwetz. From now

Beautiful views of the approaching glaciated landscape are your absolute highlight on the third stage of the Stubai High Trail. Today you climb as many meters in altitude as you descend. Magnificent mountain lakes and old snow fields make this a little adventure.

At around five kilometers, the fourth stage is the second shortest on the Stubai High Trail. Since the next stage is similarly short, if you feel fit, you can hike these two in one day. Otherwise, the Sulzenau hut as the goal of the fourth stage offers an ideal starting point for further explorations

The fifth stage is considered the most scenic among hikers. Look forward to green mountain meadows, rushing streams and idyllic mountain lakes on this refreshingly short stage, which leaves plenty of space to enjoy.

The penultimate stage on the Stubai High Trail really leads you to paradise. Here you can see how impressive glaciers are as landscape designers. With a distance of five kilometers, this stage is also short and leaves plenty of time to dream.

The last stage from hut to hut is one of the longest and most demanding. From the Bremer Hütte there are two variants right from the start: one variant leads over a short via ferrata, which you climb down through a chimney. The good thing about this variant: You do not lose any meters in altitude and
