The tenth stage of the Pilgrim's Path lives up to its name; there are plenty of religious points along the route. This already begins with the Basilica of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart on the Oude Markt in the center of Sittard, which was the first church in the Netherlands to be elevated to a basilica by the Pope in 1883.

It may feel a bit unnatural. The first eleven legs of the Pilgrim's Trail ran almost due south. This twelfth stage turns in a northerly direction: from Gulpen to Schin op Geul. Don't get confused, it really makes sense. From Gulpen you follow the route towards Kasteel Wijlre. The castle is located on the Geul and is private property, but …

Stage number 14 does not connect directly to the thirteenth stage of the Pilgrimspad. The start is not in Maastricht - the end point of the Pilgrimspad - but starts in Cadier en Keer. You got through that during the previous stage, just before you set course for Maastricht. With stages 14 and 15 you join the route towards Santiago de Compostela.
