If your motivation to lace up your hiking boots includes scenic trails up to remote alpine pastures and huts, then you’ll appreciate this Collection of Tours through Tyrol. What the chefs here manage to create in these remote places is nothing short of extraordinary. Take the time to enjoy your rest at a hut with all your senses, gaze over the vastness of the mountains, listen to the unique silence of the Tyrolean Alps, smell the fresh scent of an alpine meadow, feel the weather-beaten wood of an alpine hut and taste the full, unadulterated flavours of Tyrolean cuisine.
Tyrol has countless huts, alpine pastures and mountain restaurants, but there are a few that always stand out. We went on a search and selected 13 hikes to huts for you where the hosts have paid special attention to detail. Our hikes are not just simple farm tracks to the next alpine pasture – the journey is also the destination here and the nature is just as spectacular as the culinary delights at the end. Natural paths, hidden forest trails and magnificent views accompany you on every step to the hut.
So what do the innkeepers conjure up on their menus? Delicious homemade alpine cheese, classic Kaspressknödel (Tyrolean cheese dumplings) and homemade pastries – all made with the finest ingredients directly from the region.
If you prefer to take it easier than long-distance hikes, but you still don’t want to miss out on the huts, don't worry. Some of the Tours can be shortened comfortably with a cable car or hiking bus. You can find all the information in the individual Tours. Even without a shortcut, most of the hikes are moderately difficult and head off alpine paths to reach the destination. Whichever hike you choose, rest assured – you can expect a unique experience and delicious food here!

The Karlsbader Hut is enthroned high up in the rocky landscape of the Lienz Dolomites. And what sounds like mountaineering is also manageable for ambitious low mountain hikers. From the Dolomitenhütte car park, a wide, easy-to-run alpine and forest path leads to the hut. And if you work up a sweat, you can simply cool off in the Laserzsee directly at the hut.
Extensive mountain forests, fantastic views of the Inn Valley and the Karwendel, as well as a comfortable ascent with gondola lift and, not to forget, cozy mountain huts - the Zirbenweg is a popular classic of Tyrolean pleasure trails. The cozy panoramic trail leads you from the Patscherkofel through the wildly romantic Zirbenwald to the Tulfeinalm. After the stop, the Glugenzerbahn brings you back down to the valley.
A leisurely mountain hike, a wonderful view, excellent food and excellent wines - all this is offered by our tour to the Angerer Alm. Up here in the Kitzbüheler Alpen you will find one of the highest - and most praised - wine cellars in the Alps. Hut manager Annemarie Foidl is not only a wine connoisseur, but also president of the Austrian Sommelier Association.
Is mountain cooking only spartan? Not at all huts: Because in the Wedelhütte high above the Zillertal, you are also culinary high. Exquisite 4-course menus are served here in a wildly romantic mountain setting. Chef Christian Siegele surprises you with sophisticated creations - and excellent wines are available to accompany. If you want to end the evening with a dinner in the mountains, no problem: you can also spend the night comfortably at the Wedelhütte.
