There’s a long tradition of mountain biking in the Schladming-Dachstein region and it’s more versatile today than ever before. Whether you are a cycle-tourer or a downhill pro, everyone will find their own personal biking bliss here. Numerous signposted routes, perfectly shaped trails and the opportunity to ascend quickly with the mountain railways make this one of the best biking regions in Austria. The extraordinary landscape between the majestic Dachstein massif and the Schladminger Tauern contributes to the perfect mountain biking holiday.

In addition to epic tracks and trails, hotels geared towards mountain bikers round off your biking trip. In this Collection, the bike hotels in Schladming present their favourite Tours. The specialised hotels include the Hotel Schütterhof, the Hotel Waldfrieden, the Schwaigerhof, the Erzherzog Johann Alpin Style Hotel in Schladming centre and the Almwelt Austria on the Reiteralm. Each hotel understands the needs of mountain bikers and their bikes, providing safe storage areas, tools and washing facilities.

These Tours will take you to the most beautiful panoramic mountains in the region, to wonderful alpine pastures and along the Enns River. Many of the routes can be combined with extended trails and on the Planai and the Reiteralm in particular, you can enjoy long trail descents. As a guest, you receive the Sommercard (Summer Card), which is valid from 1 pm on your day of arrival. The card allows you to use a mountain railway of your choice every day and enjoy an extra round on the trails or shorten the Tour with a lift ride. You can find more information here: schladming-dachstein.at/en/summer/sommercard

    Buckelwald Trail

    Mountain Biking Highlight

The Buckelwald Trail is one of several shared trails on the Reiteralm. So here you have to expect hikers - so adjust your speed and be ready to brake. The trail runs along a hiking trail that has been slightly adapted in some places, has a natural character with many root passages and can be described as moderately difficult.

    Schnepfenwald Trail

    Mountain Biking Highlight (Segment)

Is part of the new Reiteralm Trails that have just been completed and the continuation of the Eiskar Trail. Leads down to the valley station of the Preunegg Jet gondola lift, which brings your bike and you back up the mountain to the starting point of the trails.
It is an easy trail that runs very smoothly and does not have any technical challenges such as steps and large roots or stones.
In principle, the trail is also suitable for beginners, provided that they have the appropriate protective equipment and some cornering and braking techniques. For those who want to be challenged more, there are the more demanding "red ones" like the Gassl or Hochalm Trail.

    Gassl Trail

    Mountain Biking Highlight

The Gassl Trail starts above the Reiteralm reservoir. From the Preunegg Jet you have to drive another kilometer uphill. In return, you will then be offered a tremendous panorama. Then it's off to the almost two-kilometer trail. From the start, the trail meanders through the light high forest in a flowing and varied manner. Waves and berms provide variety.
