There’s a long tradition of mountain biking in Austria's Schladming-Dachstein region and it’s more versatile today than ever before. Whether you are a cycle-tourer or a downhill pro, everyone will find their own personal biking bliss here. Numerous signposted tours, perfectly shaped trails and the opportunity to ascend quickly with the mountain railways make this one of the most varied biking regions in Austria. The magical landscape between the majestic Dachstein massif and the Schladminger Tauern contributes to the perfect mountain biking holiday.

The hotels Höflehner, Hartweger's and Herrschaftstaverne are all located in the cosy village of Haus im Ennstal and, as bike hotels, offer everything you need for a relaxed biking holiday. You can start several Tours directly from the hotels or ride to the Planai or the Reiteralm, where a wider range of trails awaits you. After your day, the hotels provide plenty of wellness facilities where you regenerate body and soul. Bliss.

For this Collection, these bike hotels have sent us their favourite routes. They lead you to the most beautiful mountains in the region, to wonderful alpine pastures and along the Enns river. Many of the Tours can be combined with extended trails too. On the Planai and the Reiteralm in particular, you can enjoy long trail descents. As a guest, you receive the Sommercard (Summer Card), which is valid from 1 pm on the day of arrival. It allows you to use a mountain railway of your choice every day and thus enjoy an extra round on the trails or shorten the route with a lift ride. You can find more information here:

    Uphill Flow Trail

    Mountain Biking Highlight

Flow can also set in uphill - this is proven by the Uphill Flow Trail, on which it goes over 470 meters from the middle station up to the Planai mountain station. Especially with an electric drive, this trail will put a big smile on your face, but even without it, it's fun to push through the curves and to go to your limit.

    Horner Trail

    Mountain Biking Highlight (Segment)

The one and a half kilometer long Horner Trail overcomes almost 210 meters of depth on a mix of meadow and forest trails. The simple trail can be easily integrated into the Sonnseitn Runde, for example, and is suitable for everyone who feels comfortable on narrow paths. After the first section, the trail crosses a street - so adjust your speed and be ready to brake.
