Zur Leichtigkeit zurück - wer zur Klosterinsel mit dem PKW anreist, kann im Kreisel gleich den Parkplatz 1 kostenfrei nutzen. Bike herunter, Trinkflasche auffüllen und schon geht es los.Man erreicht auf der Allee nach ein paar Kilometer eine alte Burgruine. Eine Bikerin mit der ich mal unterwegs war, sprach von dem Haus mit der Mauer. Ich würde es als Burgruine mit einem Haus bezeichnen. So stellt sich die Frage nicht, was war zuerst da – das Huhn oder das Ei ? Es war definitiv das Ei !Ich gehe jetzt nicht auf die Chronik der Ruine Schopflen ein, 13. Jahrhundert und besitzt eine ganz tolle Aussichtsplattform.Es geht weiter und man wird begrüsst vom Hl. Pirmin.
Der Hl. Pirmin mit seinem Erkennungszeichen Schlange, Frösche und dem Bischofsstab ist der Klostergründer der Insel Reichenau und wäre der beste Freund eines jeden Gärtners. Der Legende nach soll alles böse Gewürm die Insel verlassen haben, als der heilige Pirmin die Insel betreten hat.Nächste Station ist die St. Georg Kirche. Die unter Abt Hatto III. (888 – 913) erbaute Kirche zählt vor allem wegen der ottonischen Wandmalereien auf den Langhauswänden, acht Wundertaten Jesu darstellend, zu den bedeutendsten frühmittelalterlichen Bauwerken nördlich der Alpen. Die Kirche ist dem heiligen Georg gewidmet. Sein Symbol in der Heraldik ist das Georgskreuz. Das rote Kreuz auf weißem Grund ist in vielen Wappen und Flaggen enthalten. Heiligenattribute, die neben dem Georgskreuz als Erkennungszeichen des Heiligen dienen, sind der Drache sowie seine Darstellung als Ritter mit Lanze wie auf dem Bild schön dargestellt.Nun geht es der Wasserlinie entlang, unbedingt mal bei dem netten freundlichen Fischladen halt machen. Der geräucherte Saibling ist eine Delikatesse.Man erreicht das Münster. Im Jahr 830 brachte Bischof Radolt von Verona, ein Alemanne, Reliquien aus Italien an den Bodensee, darunter aus Venedig Reliquien des Evangelisten Markus. Diese werden wie auf dem Bild dargestellt, in einem goldenen Schrein aufbewahrt.Wieder geht zwischen den Feldern, mal auf – mal ab zur St. Peter und Paul Kirche und damit auch zu letzten Kirche auf dieser Tour. Die 799 als Exilsitz des Veroneser Bischofs Egino gegründete Kirche wurde zwischen 1080 und 1130 neu erbaut. Sie birgt im Chor mit dem Wandbild des thronenden Christus (Majestas Domini) und den Aposteln und Propheten den letzten Höhepunkt der Reichenauer Malschule. Die historische Orgel stammt aus dem Jahr 1783.Sich nicht nehmen lassen, sollte man die Sandseele, ein ganz besonderer toller Ort zum verweilen und als letztes Highlight geht es zur Hochwart, dort geniesst man einen traumhaften Rundumblick.
