Saxony is one of the smallest wine-growing regions in Germany, with a tradition stretching back more than 800 years. The Saxon Wine Trail takes you 90 kilometres (56 mi) along the Elbe to the most beautiful towns, vineyards, vantage points and wine cellars in the region.

We’ve divided the route into six daily stages between 13 and 20 kilometres (8 and 12 mi) long. You’ll find nice accommodation at each stage destination where you can rest for your multiday hike. If you prefer to plan day trips, then the baroque city of Dresden and the idyllic Radebeul are ideal basecamps as you can easily reach the starting points by public transport (vvo-online.de).
