East Belgium is a paradise for mountain bikers that is unparalleled in its diversity: narrow single trails wind through the green, beautiful hills of the Belgian Eifel; wonderful paths lead through the unique moorland of the High Fens nature reserve; and crystal-clear, babbling streams accompany you through forests whilst cows and horses graze in the meadows. With deep forests, stony trails and a relaxed way of life, your stay in the region of Eupen Land will be an unforgettable experience.
In this Collection, we present three brand new mountain bike trails around Eupen, which will challenge and inspire you in equal measure. Experienced mountain bikers will enjoy the technical, blocky trails and crisp climbs. Beginners will appreciate the region’s variety and get to experience the untouched nature too. If you are less experienced, approach the obstacles slowly. If you find it a bit too tough, most of the difficult sections can be skipped or you can push your bike instead.
In Eupen, there are eight bed-and-bike establishments that will gladly take care of you and your bike, making sure you are spoiled. The capital of Belgium’s German-speaking community, Eupen is the perfect base for exploring East Belgium by mountain bike. There is an active mountain biking community around the town and a dense network of single trails of all levels of difficulty.
Eupen is also very well connected to transport networks. You can easily travel by train from Aachen via Welkenraedt or Liège. There are also direct buses from Aachen. By car, you can easily reach Eupen via the A3 or E40 highway.
Whatever you decide, we hope you have loads of fun on the trails. Don't forget to explore the city after an action-packed day either – there’s a lot to see. With its many cafés, restaurants and bed-and-bike establishments, Eupen is a very inviting place that is looking forward to your visit.
