Yes, yesterday was a dream day here in the Vorderpfalz. It blooms on all corners and edges and the almond blossom is particularly abundant this year.

The Heidenfelsen is a Roman spring sanctuary, which originated in the middle of the 3rd century. Two stones are still preserved. The left stone shows three seated source deities, to whom offerings are handed. On the right stone is a sacrificial figure at the altar, two other figures are located next to it. The waters of the spring have been attributed to healing powers in eye diseases.

The castle Hohenecken was built as one of the most remarkable castles of the Staufer period in the area of today's Palatinate in the second half of the 12th, at the latest in the first years of the 13th century. In 1668 it was partially destroyed after a long siege by Elector Karl Ludwig of the Palatinate. Finally, the French troops blew up the plant around 1689.

Actually we wanted to run the Tiefenbach path from St. Wendel, but were held by the beautiful and lovingly designed Easter market around the basilica and the Osterbrunnen on the Schlossplatz. So it only came to a short taster tour.

After today it was not enough for the Tiefenbach path (see Easter market in Sant Wendel), it was briefly in the beautiful surroundings around the Wendelinushof.
