Long-distance hiking — Hike Happy along the Hochrhöner trail

Does the idea of long-distance hiking give you itchy feet, but you haven’t dared to do it yet? Does hiking long distances over several days with only the contents of your rucksack sound like a real adventure, but you doubt your fitness? Then we have the right entry route for you with this Tour in the Rhön mountains. In this Collection, we introduce you to a long-distance hike that is perfect for novice hikers. Whether you are planning your first multi-day hike or are a seasoned pro, our six-day Tour has a lot to offer. Although you won’t travel to any faraway countries on this hike, you still discover plenty of wonderful natural spectacles, sweeping views, and pretty places.

Do you want to know more? We’re setting off to the Hochrhöner trail. Or at least part of it. The original trail stretches 180 kilometres (112 miles) through the heart of Germany. We’ve shortened this to just under 100 kilometres (62 miles) divided into six stages. This way, you never hike more than 20 kilometres (12.4 miles) in one day and you can enjoy the surroundings twice as much. If you feel like doing more at the end, you can simply do it later.

Perhaps we should mention at this point that this trail was named ‘Germany's most beautiful hiking trail’ in 2010 in the category of – you guessed it – long-distance hiking trails. You can look forward to some really impressive nature on your adventure between the village of Oberweißenbrunn and the town of Bad Salzungen. Unforested heights, wide views, well-marked trails and some of the highest elevations in the low mountain range await.

On our Tours, we send you directly into nature. We take you along forest paths and narrow hiking trails, up and down, which are, of course, even more fun when you're wearing comfortable hiking boots!
